A collection of stories and photos from our travels.
- New Zealand: Dec 2006 - Three weeks on the south island, including the a seven day walk in Nelson Lakes. This was a follow on from a weeks climbing at Mt Cook.
- Yosemite: June 2006 - We were in California for the wedding of Lisa's brother and took the opportunity to spend a few days in the stunning Yosemite area.
- New Mexico: New Year 2004/05 After five years, we thought it was about time we had a family Christmas so the relies all gathered in New Mexico for a week of feeding and quaffing. We even managed to prise ourselves out of our chairs to get out and see some of a very stunning state. Don't worry, this is not the USA for George Bush lovers! Some people in other parts of the USA think that this state is a foreign nation.
- New Zealand: New Year 2003/04 - A four week trip around the south and (a little bit of the ) north islands, including the infamous Cascade Saddle.
- Easter Island: Mar 2001 - One of the most remote people on the planet and home to the amazing moai and culture of this tiny island. It's hot, humid and an unforgettable experience. We rented bikes to circumnavigate the island - the best way to go!
- Hiking in Patagonia: Feb 2001 - It is often said that along with the Himalaya, Patagonia offers the best hiking opportunities in the world. It's hard to disagree. Two magnificent walks in the Torres Del Paine national park and around El Chalten still stand out as highlights of all the walking I have done.
- Chile: Jan/Feb 2001 - The long, thin country of South America offering everything from desert to glaciers with some volcanoes and epic surf thrown in for good measure. Time needed to experience and understand it all? - minimum a liftime, we had two months to pick a few spots!
- Bolivia: New Year 2000/01 - The weird and wonderful of the Bolivian altiplano. No witches markets in these photos but they are there in this amazing land locked country.
- Peru: Nov/Dec 2000 - Next stop Peru, a stunning country of non stop highlights and humourous people. Yes, it's very busy but there is a reason for that! It can feel hassled at times but it offers something for everyone to enjoy.
- Ecuador: Oct 2000 - The start of our five month stint in South America on the way from London to Australia saw us landing in Quito to learn Spanish and absorb the culture of a very gentle people.
- Guatemala: June 1996 - The last leg of a round the world trip. Weary after fifteen months on the road, we relaxed in the ancient civilizations and sparkling hospitality of Central America. Even the ongoing civil war couldn't distract us!
